Data Collection and Use Policy

Internal Data Collection and Use

Airway Management Education Center (AMEC) collects customer information:

  • during The Difficult Airway Course registration process
  • when a customer subscribes to Airway Manager™
  • when a customer purchases an e-learning course
  • when a customer purchases an Airway Card.

This data is used to:

  • organize and manage courses
  • activate adaptive learning subscriptions and e-learning courses
  • facilitate the shipping of airway cards
  • create reports that help us continuously improve our products and services.

 

In addition, AMEC uses customer email addresses to communicate with:

  • registrants about pre- and post-course requirements
  • all customers about AMEC offerings including free webinars, new products and upcoming courses.

On rare occasions, AMEC communicates about non-AMEC airway-related events that would be beneficial to our customers.  All recipients of AMEC emails may opt out of these communications by selecting SafeUnsubscribe™ at the bottom of each email.

 

No credit card information is processed or stored on AMEC’s websites or servers.  All credit card transactions take place on the sites of PCI-compliant, third-party e-commerce providers.  The two e-commerce providers we use are Authorize.net and Shopify. In addition, we accept payments using Quickbooks Online.

Data Sharing

AMEC shares some data about Airway Manager™ subscribers with SCP Health for the sole purpose of complying with ACCME accreditation requirements.

 

AMEC shares some data about Airway Manager™ subscribers with Area9 for the sole purpose of activating the subscribers account on Area9’s adaptive learning platform.  Area9 tracks activity and performance of platform users for the purpose of measuring progress and continuously improving their platform.  Any reporting of results by Area9 is done on an aggregate basis with no individual user identified.

 

AMEC shares some data about attendees of The Difficult Airway Course™ with SCP Health for the sole purpose of complying with ACCME accreditation requirements.

 

AMEC shares some attendee data with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists for the sole purpose of complying with AANA accreditation requirements.

 

No data is shared with any third party for purposes other than those stated above.  No data is ever sold to a third party.

 

The Difficult Airway App™

AMEC sells an app on the Apple Store and in Google Play. These sites do not share information about the purchaser with AMEC. App users are invited to register their purchase with AMEC for the sole purpose of being alerted to updates. The optional registration information is not used for any other purpose.
