Jennifer Avegno, MD

Clinical Associate Professor, LSU Emergency Medicine
Community Health Relations and Engagement
Director of Student Rotations
New Orleans, Louisiana

Dr. Jennifer L. Avegno is the Director of the Division of Community Health Relations & Engagement at Louisiana State University. She is also a Faculty Advisor for the school’s Chapter of Students National Health Program. She has published research works that can be found in numerous articles and abstracts, including The Walls Manual of Emergency Airway Management, 5th Edition.

Dr. Avegno comes from a family of teachers, so heading into the field was a natural step for her; she finds new rewards in her job every day. Her favorite moments are when a student or trainee asks a challenging question. “Then I have to do some learning of my own. Teaching is a two-way street.”

In her spare time, Dr. Avegno is proud of her vegetable garden which she eats from nearly every day, even if her kids don’t share that same excitement.
